The Lotus Identity is a community-based organization that aims to promote, advance, and protect the human rights of marginalized people in Zambia. They are based in Lusaka, the country’s capital city, but specifically focus on unreached communities.
In Zambia, LGBTI people are confronted with a conservative and religious society, combined with a political climate that opposes equal rights for LGBTIs. Local MSM (Men who have sex with Men) communities lack unity and strength to undertake substantial advocacy action, which would enable them to further strengthen their communities.
We fund The Lotus Identity’s project Strengthening MSM Communities so they can mobilize local MSM communities, to empower and help them to become organized, equipped with advocacy skills, and leadership qualities. This project will hopefully be a stepping stone towards a stronger movement and sustainable community development.
