Voices of Lesbians (VoL), based in Zomba, Malawi, is launching the “Zomba Pride: Celebrating and Advocating for LBQ Women’s Rights” project. The initiative aims to empower lesbian, bisexual, and queer (LBQ) women in rural areas by promoting their human rights, leadership, and advocacy skills while celebrating their visibility and creativity through art, culture, and media.
Founded to support marginalized LBQ women, VoL provides a safe space for these individuals to express themselves freely and assert their rights. The organization works to foster a more inclusive and respectful environment for LBQ women in the region, tackling stigma and discrimination through education and outreach.
VoL hosts workshops, a cultural festival, and produces materials to document and share the project’s successes. Voices of Lesbians uses these efforts to amplify LBQ women’s voices, enhance their self-care skills, and build a more accepting community in Malawi.
