Total Together, a flagship of I Reach My Hand Africa, supports marginalized communities in Zimbabwe, particularly LGBTQ+ seniors. Their initiative Safe and Visible provides comprehensive healthcare, mental health support, and long-term care for LGBTQ+ elders, a group often excluded from mainstream social services. Through advocacy, education, and direct service provision, they ensure dignity, safety, and visibility for aging LGBTQ+ individuals.
The organization is a response to the widespread neglect and discrimination LGBTQ+ seniors face in Zimbabwe. With little available information or support structures, many are forced back into the closet or denied essential services. The Safe and Visible project addresses these gaps by offering secure accommodation, social support, and advocacy for inclusive policies. Their goal is to create a society where LGBTQ+ elders can live with dignity, free from stigma and isolation.
Total Together also raises awareness through research and storytelling, ensuring that the lived experiences of LGBTQ+ seniors are documented and used to drive social change. By fostering inclusion and policy reform, the organization is building a future where aging LGBTQ+ individuals are valued and protected.
