ONG GROMO, an LGBTQI rights organization in Côte d’Ivoire, organizes Festival Awawalé Festival, a dynamic cultural event that annually showcases the expertise of LGBTQI people while promoting social cohesion. The festival features a visibility conference, a film screening, a career exhibition, and a concert, all under the theme of family rejection, a pressing issue affecting many LGBTQI people in Côte d’Ivoire.
Created in response to the socioeconomic and health challenges faced by LGBTQI people, ONG GROMO raises awareness, promotes economic empowerment, and defends human rights. The organization actively works to combat discrimination and create opportunities for the community.
Festival Awawalé brings together 400 participants to train budding entrepreneurs and amplify the voices of LGBTQI people facing family rejection. Through discussions, advocacy, and cultural expression, the event aims to shift societal perspectives and promote coexistence.
