Community Health Initiative For Youth In Nigeria (CHIYN) is an organization dedicated to addressing the health, legal, and economic challenges faced by LGBTIQA+ individuals in Nigeria. Their project, Key Population Litigation Grant (KPLG), provides legal support and advocacy for LGBTIQA+ people who face discrimination, criminalization, and violence due to their gender identity or sexual orientation.
Since 2016, CHIYN has worked to ensure access to quality healthcare, legal protection, and economic empowerment for LGBTIQA+ individuals. The organization envisions a Nigeria where everyone, regardless of identity, can live free from stigma and persecution. Through advocacy, capacity building, and direct services, CHIYN supports the community by offering peer education, shelter services, and outreach programs.
CHIYN aims to strengthen its legal aid services by offering representation and legal guidance to those unjustly targeted under Nigeria’s discriminatory laws. The organization also provides emergency shelter, skills training, and counseling, helping LGBTIQA+ individuals regain stability and work towards long-term self-sufficiency.
