AWO

AWO is a Queer-led nonprofit supporting LBTQ women survivors of modern-day slavery in Uganda. Their project, Together for Survivors (TFS), creates safe spaces for survivors to heal, build community, and access vital services. With a powerful vision, AWO aims to shape survivor leaders who influence anti-trafficking policy and action.

Founded by trafficking survivors, AWO embodies resilience and lasting impact. They focus on shifting power dynamics in the anti-trafficking movement by empowering LBTQ voices, promoting inclusion, and building sustainable leadership. Their work reflects lived experience, justice, and collective healing.

AWO conducts awareness workshops, offers psychosocial and legal support, and has established a safety hub in Kampala and Malaba. This hub makes space for dialogue, dignity, and the rise of a survivor-led movement for change.
