Association Reference Mali is the first trans* specific organization in Mali. They focus on promoting the rights of trans* people in the country.
Trans* people in Mali may face violence and discrimination by broader society, thus placing them in life-threatening situations.
With our funding, Association Reference Mali (AREFM) opens a shelter to temporarily relocate victims of transphobia and aggression. AREFM will also strengthen the community via educational and group talk sessions, where people have the opportunity to share experiences.
