Advocacy and Research for Men in Zimbabwe – ARMZ

Advocacy and Research for Men in Zimbabwe (ARMZ) is an organization dedicated to empowering gay, bisexual, and queer men in Bulawayo. Their project, The PINK Project, creates a safe and supportive space where community members can rebuild self-esteem, confidence, and interpersonal relationships. Through creative activities like music sessions, spoken word performances, mural painting, and wellness workshops, the project encourages brotherhood and strengthens community solidarity.

Founded in 2018, ARMZ works to bridge gaps in mental wellness, empowerment, and advocacy for GBQ men. Through implementing peer-led research, mental health discussions, and life skills training, they aim to build a resilient network of men who support one another and push for change in an environment of extreme discrimination.

The PINK Project offers recreational and wellness-focused programs that promote mental health, self-acceptance, and community bonding. It seeks to achieve a stronger support system within the community of gay and bisexual men, improved conflict resolution strategies and coping mechanisms for various stressors faced by individuals. In doing so, the AMRZ hopes to start a network of gay men who are self-confident to face their fears, support each other and also have stronger relations that last beyond sexual intimacy.
