Top Santé Cameroun (TOSACA), an LGBTQ+ civil society organization in Cameroon, brings together health professionals and LGBTQ+ people to build national solidarity in ensuring health, savings, work, and leisure for vulnerable communities. Launched in 2020, TOSACA’s mission focuses on LGBTQ+ people, sex workers, and individuals with disabilities.
TOSACA’s Invisible Transgender in the Face of Violence project specifically addresses the severe challenges faced by transgender youth, particularly those aged 18 to 24, who are vulnerable to violence, discrimination, and criminalization in public spaces. TOSACA’s goal is to offer beauty training to 300 transgender individuals, enabling them to present themselves safely without fear of abuse or arrest.
TOSACA has set out to train transgender youth in makeup techniques with the hope of reducing gender-based violence by 90%. The project also provides psychological support for 50 individuals dealing with the trauma of violence, fostering a safer, more confident community.
