LGBT people in Russia face legal and social challenges, especially after the implementation of the anti-LGBT propaganda law in 2013. Social Project for Transgender People ‘LAVERNA’, located in Omsk, stands up for LGBTs by organizing activities for the LGBT community and its allies.
With PlanetRomeo Foundation funding, they educated 20 future Russian LGBT activists, 30 years old or younger, on all aspects of being an activist. During a five-day training they were taught the tools to advocate for LGBT rights in Russia.
